How to use the Fender USB Updater on my Mustang GTX/GT and Rumble Amps when the Wi-Fi Update doesn’t work?

The Fender USB Firmware Updater for Mustang GTX, GT and Rumble Stage Studio Amps should be used if you are unable to update your amp using the existing WiFi Update Procedure on the amp.
Here are the steps to perform a USB Firmware Update on your amp -
  1. Use the Fender Tone App to backup the presets and settings on your amp. This firmware update will reset the settings and preset list to the factory set, erasing any new presets or modifications to the factory settings.
  2. The minimum requirement for this application is Windows 10 or MacOS 10.15.
  3. The USB Updater Apps for both Mac and Windows can be downloaded using the links below.
  4. Extract the zip file to get the application (Fender USB Firmware Updater) and the firmware update file (Fender_Amp_Update_GTX.img). The name of the firmware update file must match the model name of your amplifier.
  5. Run the updater application by double clicking on it.
  6. Follow all the instructions on the screen and complete the update. It is important to remember to NOT unplug the amp until the FENDER_AMP drive gets ejected automatically as part of the update process.
  7. During the update process, the amp screen will display a Fender logo. The update process starts only after the Amp is mounted as a drive (FENDER_AMP) on your laptop.
  8. Once the drive is ejected, restart your amp in normal mode and check the firmware version to see if the update was successful or not. To check the firmware version:
    1. Press the “MENU” button
    2. Use the Encoder to navigate to "EQ & Amp Settings".
    3. Scroll down to "About This Amp" and press down on the Encoder to select it.
    4. Your amplifier will now display your current firmware under "Version".
  9. If applicable, use the Fender Tone App to restore the presets and settings on your amp.
  10. Please report any issues to Fender Customer Support (consumerrelations@fender.com).
