The Firmware Patch Utility is only for Mustang GTs running a firmware version below 1.3.5.
This tool is not intended for use with Rumble Stage & Studio amps.
Do you need it?
- If your Mustang GT is running a firmware version below 1.3.5, you will need to run an update using the Mustang GT Firmware Patch Utility in order to do firmware updates over WiFi going forward.
To check your firmware version, press the MENU button and use the Encoder to scroll to ABOUT THIS AMP. The firmware version is listed as ‘VERSION.’
System requirements:
- Mac OS X 10.10 and up
- Windows 7 and up
To connect the Patch Utility to your amp, you will need a USB to micro USB cable.

Check the Base Firmware on your amp:
- You will want to make note of the base firmware version you are running, so you can confirm that it has updated by one version after running the patch. The base firmware version is located on the same screen as your firmware version (press the MENU button and use the Encoder to scroll to ABOUT THIS AMP). The base firmware version is listed as ‘BASE VER.’
Base Firmware 1.0.38 will update to 1.0.39
Base Firmware 1.1.0 will update to 1.1.1
Base Firmware 1.1.2 will update to 1.1.3
Base Firmware 1.2.25 will update to 1.2.26
Once you have the cable and have noted your base firmware version, follow these steps to download and run the Utility:
If you use a Mac computer, click here to download the Mac Utility
- The Mac Utility (.dmg file) download will appear at the bottom of your browser or to your downloads folder. Click to launch.
- Depending on your security settings, Mac users may need to open System Preferences>Security & Privacy and select 'Open Anyway' to allow the Utility to install.
*As a shortcut, when the installer screen comes up, you can also right click on the Mustang GT Patch and select 'Open' which will allow the utility to open without changing your security preferences. - Follow the on-screen instructions listed on the Utility.
- You will need to do a firmware update after you run the Utility.
If you use a Windows computer, click here to download the Windows Utility
- The Windows Utility (.exe file) download will appear at the bottom of your browser or to your downloads folder. Click to launch.
- Depending on your security settings, Windows users may need to accept the prompt to 'allow the following program from an unknown publisher to make changes to your computer.'
- Follow the on-screen instructions listed on the Utility.
- You will need to do a firmware update after you run the Utility.
Summary of process:
- Check the firmware version on your Mustang GT to see if you need to run the patch.
- Attach a USB to micro USB cable.
- Make note of the base firmware version on your Mustang GT.
- Download the Utility (for either Mac or PC) from the above links.
- Launch the Utility on your computer by clicking on the .dmg or .exe file that will appear at the bottom of your browser.
- Follow the on-screen steps listed on the Utility.
- To confirm that the patch completed successfully, press the MENU button on your Mustang GT and use the Encoder to scroll to ABOUT THIS AMP. The Base Version should now display as one version higher than what you previously noted:
Base Firmware 1.0.38 will update to 1.0.39
Base Firmware 1.1.0 will update to 1.1.1
Base Firmware 1.1.2 will update to 1.1.3
Base Firmware 1.2.25 will update to 1.2.26
- Once the patch has completed successfully, you will need to run a firmware update over WiFi.
